Our anniversary was an extraordinary event in many ways:
never before had we had so many Jewish guests with roots in Roth all at once,
never before had so many of them been there for the first time,
and never before had six great-grandchildren of Shoah survivors visited us at the same time.
In addition to speeches by representatives from the political sphere and the school, as well as by Jewish guests, the celebration included a presentation recalling the association’s history.

“Star Painting”
Carrying on a beautiful tradition, the six great-grandchildren of Roth’s displaced Jewish residents, under the guidance of Gabriele C. Schmitt, added their own star to the starry sky of the synagogue—just as their parents had done a few years ago.

Educational Film
Having so many guests from several generations visit at once
was a once-in-a-lifetime moment and served as the occasion for
Monday’s discussion event. We are very grateful that our Jewish
guests were willing to participate and stayed an extra day
to do so. The contributions to the discussion included many enlightening and
interesting insights.
Now we’re hoping for a good educational film
that will reach many students and help immunize them against
far-right forces. Isabel Gathof and her team at Feinsmeker Film will produce the film. This project was funded by the Hessian State Agency for Political Education and Sparkasse Marburg-Biedenkopf.
