Former Landsynagoge in Roth - memorial and place of encounter

Aerial view of the synagogue between half-timbered houses.The synagogue is supported by the Working Group Landsynagoge Roth. The association is committed to its preservation and use. It serves as a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district and a learning center for children, young people, and adults. It hosts concerts, lectures, and other cultural events. Roth is a district of the municipality of Weimar in Hesse.

Otto Bene und die Judenverfolgung in den Niederlanden

Prof. Dr. Siegfried Becker stellt die Lebensgeschichte von Otto Bene (1884-1973) vor, der in Oberweimar aufwuchs und in Marburg zur Schule ging. In der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus war er SS-Brigadeführer und Gauführer der Auslandsorganisation der NSDAP, getarnt als deutscher Diplomat. Er war an der Ausbürgerung und der Deportation der niederländischen Juden maßgeblich beteiligt.
